Dan Alexandru
Animator and programmer from Moinești. I’ve been animating since I was 8 and scripting games in Luau for four years. Now I’m learning to build the web, and I want to learn it properly in Barcelos.

How this site works
The parts behind the page you’re reading.
18
pages, in English and Romanian
6
custom blocks
1
plugin: Polylang
0
page-builder plugins
01
Theme
A block theme made from scratch
No page builder and no ready-made theme. The colours, fonts and spacing live in theme.json, and the layouts live in templates and patterns. Every page can still be edited in the WordPress editor.
02
Languages
Two languages, one switch
Every page and post exists in English and Romanian, linked with Polylang. The theme’s own text, like buttons and headings in the templates, is translated through a small custom block binding.
03
Canvas
A bullet-hell title screen
The patterns behind my name are drawn on a canvas with plain JavaScript, no libraries. They bend with the mouse, bloom on a click, and stop completely if your device asks for less motion.
04
Projects
Projects as their own content type
Projects are a custom post type with their own fields, a label and a link. I add one like a blog post, and the cards on the home and Projects pages update on their own.
05
Contact
A contact form without plugins
The form is a custom block. It checks every message on the server, filters out spam bots, and saves each one under Messages in the admin. My email address isn’t on the site at all.
06
Tools
Built with AI, decided by me
I built the site with two AI coding assistants, Claude Code and Codex. I chose the direction, reviewed the changes and threw out a first design I didn’t like. It’s all saved in Git, so the whole site can be rebuilt on a new computer in minutes.
